Hello everyone,
I'm happy to share that, with the latest update to the stable version of 1Password (8.10.78), our team has added a setting to turn off the prefilling of usernames when creating new items in the app:
You can find instructions on how to update here: How to keep 1Password up to date
Thanks again for all of the feedback and for always helping us make 1Password more useful for your needs and your workflows.

Hello Dave!
Indeed the password is auto-generated and I am fine with that.
But the login is my wife email address which is used in a few items. The thing is that I use a different address email alias for each web site, so I guess her email address comes as a suggestion as it is used more often than each unique alias...
Would it be possible to define a default email address?
Thanks
Nicolas

7 months agoThank you all for the feedback. The team is planning to allow you to choose which email address is suggested based on your default identity: Choose your default identity and credit card items
This change isn't in the stable or beta version yet but we hope to ship it as soon as possible. I know that this won't address all of the use cases discussed in this thread and I've made sure to pass along all of your comments to the team.

I AGREE... I want a BLANK username and password so that I don't accidentally save something in 1pw that the website knows nothing about. Even "default email" or "emails" at all are problematic since usernames often are not emails.
1PW has "saved my marriage" and allowed me to give my kids far more independence AND support my aging grandparents AND occasionally streamline work projects and such. I LOVE it. BUT this pre-fill feature is really messing things up.

So much this. I was transferring credentials into 1Password, and I had to triple check each account to make sure that the pre-populated value wasn't there in place of the correct value.
It was a pretty tedious process as 1Password still pre-populated the password. I had to erase it and paste in the correct one each time.
