New sign-in alerts and welcome page appearing with 1Password for Safari (Safari version 18.3 beta)

Apocalypse That's probably right. I also am concerned that since I have Private Relay on, the emails always show that I am at different locations. Seems like the usefulness of these messages trying to determine whether it is the same or a different device is really not there and there should be a way to just stop the messages completely.

Mirv I don't want to beat a dead horse here, but this zero feedback and total lack of communication from 1Password isn't what users would expect from them.
They can, and should, know users that are running their apps in beta, and at a minimum should have a flag somewhere alerting for non-expected behaviors like yours getting dozens of emails that would pop in some PM screen and start a review and communication process with users in the same situation.
Looks like the 1Password team went out to vacation/holidays and forgot about their customers.

thatusernameist Good point, though I've already turned off Share Across Devices in Settings-Safari-Extensions on my iPhone and iPad. I don't see a way to do that on the Mac, other than turning off Safari under "Saved to iCloud" in the main iCloud settings. That would seem like overkill since it would probably turn off bookmark syncing etc. but this may call for heroic measures.
Edit: Actually I really should just turn off the 1Password for Safari extension on the mac completely and that will probably kill the emails.

Unless I'm mistaken... where possible, enabled extensions will sync between Apple platforms. For example, if you turn it off on your iPhone but enable it on your Mac, it will get re-enabled on the phone.

Sorry to keep harping on this, but I've found that once you turn off the extension, what is happening is that it goes back on by itself. I got about 20 of those emails today and noticed this. How do you completely delete the extension?

Honestly, it’s just crazy how this issue has been handled… 1password is all about security and trust from it’s userbase. As a long time user, receiving multiple emails about unrecognized device connecting to my account as false positives is a huge red flag, evenmore so when there is no immediate communication to explain this behavior to the users. I had to go and dig into the forum to ensure that nothing was wrong security wise. Now beta or not, guess what, ios is one of the most used OSs and you should expect users to use the beta or at least communicate very clearly about the impacts one may face when using the beta. Really it’s more about how this issue has been handled more than the issue in itself. Just my two cents

I'm sorry that you're still seeing the issue after turning off 1Password for Safari. Just to confirm, did you follow these steps:
- Open the Settings app on your iOS device.
- Tap Apps.
- Tap Safari.
- Tap Extensions.
- Tap 1Password.
- Turn off "Allow Extension".
Open Safari and make sure that you close all open tabs. Then fully close Safari on iOS and re-open Safari. If you still see the same issue then can you post a screenshot of what you see?

I often get a “nag” pop up that tells me 1PW can sign me in automatically. Which I’ve had enabled for some time now.

1P_David, please add me to the list as well. Those emails pile up quite fast. I also am randomly presented with a web page to setup the browser extension. That page is quite intrusive because it hides the page I intended to open. I've now disabled the 1PW extension according to your note above.
