3 years agoOfftop: Why I left 1Password
So I have been using 1Password for 7 years but left it for Bitwarden.
Why? Because the Android app is a big mess (sorry devs).
To name a few issues:
1) Version 8 constantly (after reboots or...

3 years agoHi @Captain_Hook, I'm sorry to hear you decided to leave 1Password but I really appreciate your thorough feedback.
1) What you've described is not expected behavior. After setting up Biometric unlock, your account password should only be required after the Require Password time elapses, after your biometry isn't recognized several times in a row or after certain security changes on your device. If this is not being triggered by Require Password elapsing or security changes, it may be a bug.
If you still have 1Password installed and would like to troubleshoot this, please reach out to us directly via email at support@1password.com so we can help investigate further. With your message you can include a brief description of the issue.
After emailing in, you'll receive a reply from BitBot, our automated responder, with a Support ID that looks something like [#ABC-12345-678]. You can post that here so I can help make sure your message gets to the right place.
2) In my experience, I can use 1Password 8 to fill in the vast majority of websites I use in Chrome. I understand that some users have run into issues on Chromium or Autofill compatibility browsers and that it can be quite frustrating when it does happen. If it has been enough of a disruption to your workflow, I can certainly see why this would even be a deal breaker.
We're working on this in a few different ways. We've made changes to our Autofill service to help reduce the load time on filling data which should help with system time outs, we've reached out to Google regarding an issue where Gboard can give priority to the clipboard in the suggestion strip and there are a number of other ongoing tweaks and improvements to how 1Password fills. Almost every update we've released for 1Password for Android has included changes and further optimization. I would expect that work to continue.
3) While there are certain features, such as QR scanning, that do rely on Google Play Services, 1Password for Android does not require Google Play Services to run. That being said, I can definitely understand that being distributed through the Google Play Store does place 1Password adjacent to the Google ecosystem. While I can't make any promises about the development of 1Password, I've gone ahead and shared your interest in download and feature options that do not rely on Google.
Thanks again!
