3 years agoThanks 1P_Dave,
Update: I have confirmed that the problem is NOT specific to any browser extension. The problem is a bug in 1Password Mini.
If I:
- Generate a password by clicking on 1Password Mini without a browser running
- Click Save & Copy
- Paste the resulting password somewhere
Then the password will not match the password seen in the generator.

That's so odd. I say that because I'm reasonably certain I only encountered this problem a lot more recently than 2019. I was hopeful that it had somehow been introduced by one of the minor updates to the 1Password 7 app, and could therefore be fixed by another such update.
If that were to be the case, I am hopeful it could still have a chance of being fixed? But until then, I have found a workaround: simply editing the item and regenerating the password within the 1Password 7 app itself. That's a little more manual, but it works as expected.
Thanks for your offer, but looking at some of the other posts with changes of longstanding behavior between 1Password 7 and 8, I'm not sure I can do that. To be honest, as someone who has used 1Password since version 3, I have a very hard time wrapping my head around the workflow of the new extension, which I can basically preview on Safari, even while on 1Password 7. I know you have a basic video on it, but it's nowhere near detailed enough for those of us used to the old way of doing things. :)
