Recent Android update breaks autofill for some apps

Just did an update on my Galaxy S23, using beta channel 8.11.20. So far I have noticed 1password no longer offers to autofill on 1 of my apps. I am sure there are more but this one is one I use daily. It's the Etrade app. I used to be able to tap on user ID or password and 1password would ask which login. Now, nothing happens. I have to manually open 1password, copy the password, go back to Etrade, type in my username and then paste the password.

I tried rebooting my phone, turning off and on autofill options in 1password, removing the linked app from the stored password entry in 1password, and nothing works. I thought for sure once I removed the linked app and then logged into Etrade manually, 1password would ask to store the password for the app, but it didn't.

Thank you.

  • Also yes, I am obsessive about always updating apps on my phone, almost daily. So I do always have the latest releases of 1Password and other apps.

  • Hello rhkittredge! 👋

I'm sorry that you're unable to autofill in the "Etrade" app and I apologize for the delay in responding. Just to confirm, is this the "E*TRADE: Invest. Trade. Save." from Morgan Stanley?

Can you tell me if you're still running into the issue after updating to the latest versions of the "Etrade" app and 1Password for Android? If you are then are autofill suggestions failing to appear at all? Or do they appear but tapping on them does nothing?

Hello Dave, thanks for the reply. Yes, you are right about the Etrade app - it's the one from Morgan Stanley. However this issue happens with other apps as well, such as my primary banking app - Lake Michigan Credit Union.

1Password is behaving differently now than it used to, even before my original message about this problem. What used to happen is I would tap the password area of an app and above my on-screen keyboard, would be the logins found for that app/website. I could tap the login I wanted , it would auto-fill, and we were off to the races. Now, what I see is just "Open 1Password" where I have to tap that, scan my fingerprint, then choose the correct login to autofill from the "Suggestions" box. As a result, I have gone from one tap to 3 in newer releases of 1Password.
