Repeatedly asked to set up touch ID
I have enabled touch ID on my Mac. It works fine when I choose to use it. Quite often I choose not to use it, to reinforce the memory of my password.

Hello Baz! 👋
I'm sorry that you're seeing an unexpected prompt asking you to setup Touch ID when you unlock 1Password for Mac using your account password. I've been able to reproduce the same issue on my end and I've filed an internal work item to have our development team investigate further and get this fixed. I'm sorry for the inconvenience.
By the way, I did not select the beta channel. That happened by itself
1Password is designed to only download beta updates if a user explicitly chooses to switch release channels. Have you used the beta version of 1Password for Mac in the past as any point?

I'm getting this on version 8.12.10 BETA channel. It happens everytime I login or unlock and is rather annoying.

I'm sorry that the prompt is getting in the way. I've added your report to our internal work item as well.
The prompt should only appear if you're unlocking 1Password using your account password but you have Touch ID enabled. Let me know if you're seeing it in any other scenario.

Same here, that popup is useless, or maybe should show once every month
Please disable that popup, I use Touch ID, and I am aware of it, so I do not need to see this everytime I go back to my Mac

To clarify, the pop-up appearing unexpectedly is a bug that our development team is tracking. At the moment, it appears incorrectly after unlocking the 1Password app using your account password if biometrics (Touch ID) is turned on.
If you unlock 1Password using Touch ID, not your account password, then you shouldn't see the "1Password is trying to set up Touch ID for your account" pop-up.
