Upgrading from 1p7 to 1p8 yesterday, safari extension did not show up.
Will try that.
I don't use either "saver" option on my device (other than at 15% battery, but that's rare I hit that threshold)
Yet another papercut related to category-specific functionality:
Following your suggestion, I just created a new item from the Driver License category and filled in my data. But my Australian driver licence has 2 numbers, a "Card Number" and a "Licence Number". The Driver License category only contains one "number" field (USA-centric?), so I renamed it to Card Number and renamed another field to Licence Number. So far so good.
But now it turns out that the finished item shows in the search results and item list as "Driver License -
". But the Card Number is rarely used, the Licence Number is the most common one, so I would like to show that one instead. But looks like I can't? It's yet another hidden functionality tied to a particular field of a particular category! Thank you, I will do so.
Re:categories: IMO more information is needed. For example, what is the big difference between the Email, Database, Server and API Credential categories?
Is it just that each has slightly different fields? If they are just templates for ease of use, that's great, though it feels like an unimportant distraction, given that one can easily add and remove sections and fields. However, some categories are more than templates, since they provide additional functionality! For example, I can store URL, login and password as either a Server or a Login. Why should I use one or the other? The categories page explains that Login will be suggested but Server won't. I think I should have been told this during onboarding.
Hi hmijail, thanks for reaching out!
In order to change to another category, you will need to manually create a new item in the desired category (ex. Driver License), then enter your details and save the item. Afterwards, you can discard the old item if it's no longer needed.
The https://support.1password.com/item-categories/ support documentation that you've mentioned will provide details on the differences between the items and the information that can be stored within them. Can you clarify if you're looking for more details on what items can be used for within the documentation or during the onboarding process?
I look forward to hearing from you!
