When I go to create a new login, the user name is prefilled with an email address I haven’t used in years. This shouldn’t have any email address, especially when I use Fastmail’s masked emails. I hop...

Hello everyone,
I'm happy to share that, with the latest update to the stable version of 1Password (8.10.78), our team has added a setting to turn off the prefilling of usernames when creating new items in the app:
You can find instructions on how to update here: How to keep 1Password up to date
Thanks again for all of the feedback and for always helping us make 1Password more useful for your needs and your workflows.

I think it's about time the "solution" post was unmarked for this discussion.
This remains incredibly frustrating.

8 months agoThank you for the feedback. I've posted an update here.
Does the new feature allowing you to set a default identity to always have the same email address be suggested help? Or are you using unique email addresses or usernames for almost all of your login?

Afraid not.
Professionally, I have ~10,000 items in my primarily accessible vaults, spanning 3 live and ~15 acquired businesses. I have 6 different email addresses which I have to use daily. Personally, every website uses a different email address/username.
There is no such thing as a default identity for power users.

Thank you for sharing those details. While I don't have a timeframe to share, the team is looking into adding a setting to turn off username suggestions in the future.
I've shared your feedback internally with the relevant team to help prioritize that work.

Can you please ask them to consider a global option for all users associated with a personal/family/team/business account (maybe with an optional toggle for an end user)?
It's not easy trying to get many people to change a setting, even if it is a recommended practice.
