Hello everyone,
I'm happy to share that, with the latest update to the stable version of 1Password (8.10.78), our team has added a setting to turn off the prefilling of usernames when creating new items in the app:
You can find instructions on how to update here: How to keep 1Password up to date
Thanks again for all of the feedback and for always helping us make 1Password more useful for your needs and your workflows.

Choosing a default identity in no way solves this issue, because the whole point is that we don't want a default username at all. Instead of enabling faster creation of new items, this just slows it down and creates an opportunity for incorrect information to be saved.

I couldn’t agree with you more. We don’t want a default email address in a profile, we just want an off switch. An off switch should have been done 1st then other improvements. All this is doing is making a lot of users mad, and I feel like 1Password doesn’t see this as an issue at all. 4 months and counting.
