Request: Turn off username guessing in the apps [RESOLVED]
When I go to create a new login, the user name is prefilled with an email address I haven’t used in years. This shouldn’t have any email address, especially when I use Fastmail’s masked emails. I hop...

Hello everyone,
I'm happy to share that, with the latest update to the stable version of 1Password (8.10.78), our team has added a setting to turn off the prefilling of usernames when creating new items in the app:
You can find instructions on how to update here: How to keep 1Password up to date
Thanks again for all of the feedback and for always helping us make 1Password more useful for your needs and your workflows.

Thank you to everyone for the continued feedback regarding 1Password automatically filling your email address in the username field for faster item creation. In the most recent beta version, I'm happy to share that we're testing a new setting to allow users to turn off automatic username filling if they wish:
UPDATE May 15th, 2025: The feature is now available in the beta version (8.10.78) of 1Password. Once testing is complete in the beta, the team hopes to release the feature to the stable version as well: Use 1Password beta releases

Thanks, Dave. I'll be very happy when this hits Production!

I see this in beta now. Thank you. Now for the fun part: moving people back to 1Password. The fact that you listened to users makes me happy to help my friends and family do this.

This is great, thankyou. Will this setting work it's way into the mobile apps (and browser extensions) too at some point or is this an account wide flag i.e. once set somewhere it applies everywhere/across all apps?
Cheers

Thanks for the question! The setting will be available for the mobile apps as well, you'll have the choice to enable or disable the feature on each device where you're using 1Password.
