Scanning setup code from a phone screen doesn't seem to work

Hello, I just setup a new Macbook and installed 1Password on it.
I tried "Scan setup code" to add my account, but could not get it to work. I did get the dialog that showed the camera view. I then opened 1Password in my Android phone and the setup QR Code and tried to align it several times to the camera, but nothing happened. I also tried switching to latest beta but there was no difference. After several tries I entered my details manually and that worked fine.
Am I doing it wrong or does it just not work?
