Secret key

I am using 1Password across many operating systems.

If I change the secret key on my iPhone, how does that propagate to my windows, Mac iOS, and android operating systems

  • Hi pathfinder76! As mentioned by Ekalb, when you regenerate your Secret Key on our website, 1Password will prompt you to enter the new Secret Key on each of your devices when you next unlock the apps.

However, in general we don't recommend changing your Secret Key unless your device has been lost or stolen, and/or you have reason to believe someone else may have reason to know it.

If you have any further questions or concerns, let me know!

Except in the case of theft of a device or disclosure to unauthorized third parties of your login data, I see no need to change the secret key.
If you change your secret key 1Password will ask for your new Secret Key and your account password on each device you’re signed in to.
The secret key is on each of your devices (crypted of course)
