Several thousand PWs duplicated after upgrade to 1PW 8

The upgrade to 1Password 8 (from 7) seemed to strong insist I move my data. I believe it moved my old unused local vault over to my cloud account and thereby duplicated around 3,000 pwds. What can I do to fix this? I noticed first in my saved Credit Cards, and subsequently confirmed it looking through my logins. Anything older than a few years ago when I moved to a subscription is duplicated.

I need to remove duplicates that will remove the older duplicate!

    actually, after reading the post suggested by 1P_Tommy, my case is different as I was using v8 already when these thousand copies were created
