Tag search in Quick Access - any update from 1Password team?

Hi,

Im really surprised that we cannot search for tags in quick access in 1Password - especially that this functionality is implemented in regular search within an app. I saw few threads where users requested this feature and the response was that it was passed to development team. Any update on this? The whole idea of tags is to organize things and then be able to search using tags. I think this is really major feature we are missing here.

1Password Version: 8.10.7
Extension Version: 2.11.0
OS Version: macOS 13.4
Browser:_ Safari

Thank you for the reply! I'll respond below:

when I input tag name after =tag: this is case sensitive, so if I have tag called "Shops" it works fine only if I enter =tag:Shops. When I input =tag:shops or =tag:SHOPS or any other combination, it doesn't work. It shall not be case sensitive.

Currently, Shops and shops are treated as two different tags and you can have both as separate tags in 1Password. The search filter =tag: searches for the exact tag, case included, that you type after the search filter.

it does not work when the tag has spaces in it, even if I put it in parenthesis like =tag:"Internet shops". It would be great to be able to search for tags with spaces.

I've reported this to our developers so that they can look into this further.

finally, it would be much more intuitive if the tag search in Quick Access worked without the need of =tag: prefix.

I can see how that would be useful and I've passed along your request for such functionality to the team so that they can consider it for future updates. And, by not using the =tag: filter the search would be able to pull up tags regardless of case rather than looking for the exact match as you mentioned in point #1.

Thank you for the feedback! 🙂

    Hi Dave,

First and foremost, thanks for responding to my query. I very much appreciate it. Moreover, thanks for letting me know how to search using tags in Quick Access. I was not aware that there is a need to use =tag: instead of simply starting writing the tag name. I was sure that searching for entries with certain tag works the same way as searching by name of an item.

I checked the method you advised and it works fine with few comments, which may be worth taking into account to make the experience as intuitive and smooth as possible:
    * when I input tag name after =tag: this is case sensitive, so if I have tag called "Shops" it works fine only if I enter =tag:Shops. When I input =tag:shops or =tag:SHOPS or any other combination, it doesn't work. It shall not be case sensitive.
    * it does not work when the tag has spaces in it, even if I put it in parenthesis like =tag:"Internet shops". It would be great to be able to search for tags with spaces.
    * finally, it would be much more intuitive if the tag search in Quick Access worked without the need of =tag: prefix.

    What do you think?

  • Hello Solos! 👋

If I open Quick Access and search for a tag using a search term such as =tag:testtag then I see the correct results:

Are you seeing different behaviour? Let me know if I misunderstood the issue. 🙂
