Tap to copy not working

For background, I’ve been regularly having a problem where the Safari extension is not working properly.  It won’t open even though the app has been opened.  I then need to open a new tab and things work properly. This happens on macOS & iPadOS.

Recently I have been having another problem and it has gotten to the point I have come here.  When I have a login item open in the app or extension and I want to copy them I had been able to simply tap and copy.  Now I need to tap the ellipses, opening a menu, and then tap the copy menu item.  I can still login in but it is not automatic, it takes multiple steps.

This also gets in the way when I am trying to login in with a passkey.

So I am looking for words of wisdom ;)

  • Hello AgingKeeper! 👋

I'm sorry that you're running into multiple issues with 1Password. I'll reply below:

This is a known issue in the stable version of Safari that we hope Apple will release a fix for soon. A fix is currently being tested in Safari Technology Preview. Opening the website in a new tab is the best way to workaround the issue.

I just tested and copy and paste is working for me in the current version of 1Password for Safari and 1Password for Mac. Can you tell me more about the issue:

    1. Are you seeing the issue on your Mac or your iPad?
    2. Which field are you trying to copy from an item?
    3. Which option are choosing from the ellipses menu? There's no copy to clipboard option there.

I look forward to hearing from you.

I just tested this on my iPad with the login credentials for this community site (I did not let it autofill for this test).  I tapped the username and a menu opened, where I can then tap a second time and copy then pasted into the username field.  Repeated this with password.  Previously all I needed to do was tap one time and the contents of the fields were copied (the word copied would appear).  Not sure about ellipses I mentioned, not near the username and password field on the iPad.  Will test with the Mac a bit later today.

Thanks for the reply. So that I can better understand the situation can you create a screen recording of what you see on your iPad: Record the screen on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch

Once you've created the screen recording please send an email to support@1Password.com and include a link to this thread. After emailing in, you'll receive a reply from BitBot, our friendly robot assistant with a Support ID that looks something like [#ABC-12345-678]. Post that here, and I'll be able to locate your message and send you a secure upload link for the screen recording.
