Two Safari extensions?
Why are there two Safari extensions? I have both installed but only one active. Sometimes I get nagged to activate the other. I will say that the one reading "1Password for Safari" has this tremendously low timeout for remembering that I have authenticated. Even if I am authenticated with 1Password itself, that extension requires separate auth.
Generally it seems like the browser extensions have become less useful and reliable, and more disruptive of workflow.

The only way I could adequately resolve this was to remove all 1Password-related installations and reinstall. Finally, it seems to be a bit better behaved, with the preliminary observation that I am still prompted for my master password (and not accepting TouchID) too frequently.

I reversed the extensions, as you mentioned. The checkbox in question was already enabled. However, the timeout before I get prompted for reauthentication using the master password. Note that I don't mind reauthentication - I have TouchID and so this is pointless.

You indicated above you re using 1Password 8. With 8 you would use 1Password for Safari 2.3.3. The other version is for 1Password 7. 1Password for Safari would use the 1Password 8 lock settings. I would recommend unchecking the top one and enabling the lower one. If you've gotten setup with 1Password 8 I would recommend removing 1Password 7.
Right-click on the 1Password for Safari icon in the browser toolbar and select settings. From there make sure
Integrate with 1Password app is enabled.
