Use Google/Apple Passwords or turn them off?
Hi there, newbie here.
How should I think about Google and Apple password managers? The Google one in particular often pops open over the 1P tooltip on a form field. Then, I usually hit ESC to make it go away.
What is best practice for these other password managers? Should I disable them if I'm getting everything I need from 1P? Or, under what circumstances might it make sense to use both?
Thanks!
Jeff
Hello GTDjeff! 👋
Thanks for reaching out! I don't recommend that you use multiple password managers at the same time since that will lead to duplicate entries in different places as well as conflicts of the sort that you mentioned with pop-ups and prompts.
If you're using 1Password, turn off the built-in password manager: Turn off the built-in password manager in your browser

That makes sense, thanks. Is there a way to import existing passwords from Google into 1P? I might import them and work through them to assess if they are active services I want to keep or not so much and delete. Thanks!

You can import your passwords into 1Password using this guide: Move your passwords from Chrome to 1Password
If you've previously imported your items to 1Password then a second import might cause duplicates that you'll need to clean up manually.
