Using Google to login
I'm new to 1P. I generally have always preferred to have a separate login and password for all sites. But, I have clicked through the "register/login" with Google on a few sites.
I noted that 1P puts a "Sign in with Google" banner on those entries.
What if any downsides are there to using Sign in with Google? Maybe you can't take advantage of passkeys or other advanced security if you do it that way?
Thanks!

Hello GTDjeff! 👋
Thanks for the question! There are several different ways that you can sign into a website, including but not limited to:
- A password.
- A passkey.
- A sign-in with provider (like Google).
1Password is there to help you manage and sign into the services that you use regardless of which of these options you choose: Use 1Password to sign in to sites with supported providersIf you choose to sign in to a website using Google then authentication will be entirely handled by your Google account and not a separate password or passkey that you use just to sign into that website itself. This means that it's important to safeguard your Google account, and use a strong password or save a passkey for that, since your Google account unlocks other accounts.
