Why auto lock after idle VS lock after time?

Hi,

I'd like to understand the logic of having locking the vault after computer is idle vs just a standard timeout?

Seems like a convenience thing?

But isn't there a big risk here that outweighs convenience (given too we have bio-metric unlock). Whilst using my machine I pick up some malware  -  my vault was unlocked and has been that way as I've been using my computer for the last few hours.

So whats the rational?

Thanks for the feedback! The "Lock after the computer is idle" setting is indeed dependent on your device going idle according to the built-in system timer.

While 1Password does protect your data as much as possible on your device, it can't protect you against malware that has completely compromised your system. It's important to take other measures to prevent being infected by malware and to only use 1Password on devices that are safe and that you trust. You can read more here: How 1Password protects information on your devices (and when it can’t)

That being said, I can see how an option for 1Password to lock when it isn't active (rather than the system) would be useful. While I can't make any promises, I've filed a feature request on your behalf. πŸ™‚
