Why does AutoFill "type" instead of paste my username and password in?

When I use AutoFill 1Password behaves as if it is typing the characters into the fields. You can see them fill one at a time instead of appearing all at once as would happen if you pasted into the field. This is something I have noticed since upgrading to version 8. It used to just fill like a paste would behave. This new behavior is problematic because if I hit enter too quickly, I will get an error if 1Password hasn't finished "typing" in the data.

Note: the paste behavior occurs when you select the login after clicking on the field. The "typing" behavior occurs when using the Command-\ shortcut.
