Ye-olde password...

I started using 1PW before it was a subscription on my Mid 2011 iMac. When that got an excruciating as my main computer I upgraded to a M1 iMac (as soon as it was sold - and I'm so glad to be on Apple Silicon!) and I think I used MigrationAssistant to build up that Mac. Over the years we joined the family plan and I created a password for the full account - or so I thought. There's been a few family laptops that I've inherited or created accounts on and all of those end up with the full account password for 1PW. Meanwhile that old 2011 iMac became a treadmill entertainment computer and it still has my original password as does my M1 iMac. Is there a way to sync these back to that password? I'm the administrator - but I thought the main account password was really supposed to be for logging into the site and well... administering. And my original password was for my vault & personal use. I suppose I could just change it over - but I still think there was a reason to have my vault and the administrator passwords be separate.

    Oh - that does make some sense. I didn't realize that the devices are not "in the membership". I mean - everything sync's to the account just fine so it certainly feels like it's within it.

    Also 1password 7 is still active on those devices - although it's also on one of the laptops that has the new password. I should try some new signups on one of the machines running 1PW8 to get over my phobia. I also have dreams of replacing that ancient iMac with the M1 version and buying a shiny new M4🤩

      I can promise one thing. I have never regretted moving to an Apple Silicon device. I'm still rocking the M1 and I'm very impressed. The M4 would likely blow me out of the water.

    It sounds like you have a Primary vault on those devices. It can unlock with a different password vs. the one for a membership. With a membership the one password you use to access 1Password.com is the one you access your data with. 

     

    I'd suggest moving those devices data into the membership and having all of your data live there. The only hiccup I see you might experience is the older devices. I'd highly recommend reviewing our system requirements to ensure they will work with a membership.
