You can now use a passkey for this item.

This is not a "mac" question, but I didn't know where to post this... Excuse my ignorance on this passkey option in 1Password. So far I have ignored these "suggestions" because I'm no sure how it all works.

If I click on the "Use Passkey" button, what exactly happens, and how do I use it going forward. Does it work on all my devices? Thanks in advance

So it sounds like each vendor has their own way of doing things? Like this one for Target?
I've used 1Password for ever and having the passwords is what I'm used to. Not sure if using a passkey is worth it to me. I just need more info on what passkeys are all about. Thanks

I'm looking a the passkey.directory. Very interesting. I see some have MFA. Does that require another app like PingID, etc.?

Passkeys are a modern alternative to passwords – they enable people to log in to their online accounts without having to enter a password. Unlike passwords, you can’t create a weak passkey. Passkeys are generated by 1Password using a public-private key pair, which makes them strong and unique by default. Passkeys can't be phished like traditional passwords because the underlying private key never leaves 1Password – this also makes them resistant to social engineering scams.

Passkeys are safely stored in 1Password itself and they're protected using the same encryption and security as your passwords today. You can read more about passkeys on our blog:

Nope! You can also save passkeys for MFA right in 1Password: Save and sign in with passkeys in your browser

Let me know if you have any other questions. πŸ™‚
