Getting an error message when trying to leave a comment
I keep an error message when trying to post a reply: Content Not Published Your post contains invalid HTML. Remove the following invalid tags before publishing: a, a (data-airgap-id), li-user
- 6 months ago
The workaround is a real pain, but works consistently for me:
- edit your comment,
- unlink every link,
- save your unlinked comment,
- edit your comment,
- re-link all the former links, and
- save your comment.
Last time I looked, I could not the original report of this bug from around the launch of the new Community. Sadly, this penalises folks who put the effort into properly linking resources in their posts.

This happens to me constantly. Quite frustrating. Including on this comment, and in Microsoft Edge, and Vivaldi, and Google Chrome, oh the irony. Finally I got this to post after downloading and installing Firefox.

Most of my posts include at least one hyperlink for reference, which I suppose exacerbates the problem, but clearly cannot be the only one since this comment has no hyperlinks.
I am very careful to click Ctrl+Shift+V to paste as plain text. Not only do I run into the issue when creating new posts, but sometimes I notice the hyperlink didn't add correctly on existing posts, and I run into the issue again when trying to edit the post to add the hyperlink. Sometimes I just give up and don't post at all, which is especially infuriating after I've already spent 20 minutes writing a thoughtful response.

I'm sorry you're having to deal with this! If you happen to have any of your messages that have triggered the error in a text file, could you email us at mailto:community@1password.com with the text file as an attachment to see if we can find any clues what might be going on?

Hi 1P_SimonH, I'm a little confused what you're asking. Are you saying my screenshot above doesn't make it clear, which has both the text contents and the error message visible?

Hi nukmicah,
Sorry to make things unclear! You're right that I have all the info I need to try and reproduce this. I've copied the text from your screenshot and posted it in our sandbox with no error message. I'll share this with our community software vendor and see if we can have them give this a deeper look.
If it's helpful, you can see the HTML of your post and edit the code itself. I know that's extra work, but it might be helpful in the short term.
