Step 4: Review your account policies
If your team is on the 1Password Business plan, you’ll see a Policies option in your account settings. Policies let Owners and Admins set rules around authentication, sharing, permissions, and more—helping you keep your team secure and consistent.
Below are some of the most popular policies among 1Password teams:
Authentication
- Account password requirements: Choose from minimum, medium, strict, or custom password rules to ensure your team’s account passwords meet the standard you expect.
- Auto-lock: Use this setting to enforce auto-lock across your team’s apps and customize how quickly they lock.
Sharing and Permissions
- Item sharing: Control who your team can share items with outside your account, and set limits on how long shared items remain accessible.
- Vault permissions: Define default permissions for users of shared vaults, so access is consistent and predictable across your team.
Additional security options
- Configure Identity Provider: Set up an identity provider (IdP) so team members must verify their identity before signing in to 1Password.
- Firewall rules: Restrict access to 1Password based on network locations, helping ensure your team only signs in from approved places.
