51 TopicsPersonal Favorites on a Family Plan
Hi, I subscribe to the family plan, and it would be nicer (for me) if when I looked at my favorites I only saw mine, not my wife or kids. These are for our shared items in common vaults. I have several vaults: Myself Myself + wife Myself + wife + kid1 Myself + wife + kid2 Myself + wife + kid1 + kid2 It's those shared accounts (mostly with the kids). It's nice they can favorite their stuff, but I would rather not see it. I realize I might be using this unconventionally, but I have been a 1PW user for 15+ years, and my kids were infants when I first started some of their accounts. Can I make a feature request that would set the favorite for the vault on a per user basis ? So Kid1 can favorite web site x in the vault "Myself + wife + kid1", but it's not one of my favorites. Anyone else use 1PW this way ? I realize I could split apart all their stuff in their personal Kid1 vault, but when they call home and need help with web site x or whatever, it's nice that I can log in from my local machine and help out. ~Scott43Views3likes4CommentsHow does the recovery of a private vault in the Family account work
I’m trying to wrap my head around how private vault recovery works when someone forgets their Master Password. From what I understand, the Master Password plus the Secret Key are used to lock and unlock the keys that actually protect all the vault data. The client device generates the Master Unlock Key each time a user accesses 1Password by providing the Master Password, which is combined with the Secret Key. The asymmetric keys that are kept securely encrypted on the server, right? If the Master Password is lost, the user can’t generate the Master Unlock Key to obtain keys, so they can’t get into their private vault. At that point, the account organizer can start the recovery process. What I don’t get is: what additional piece of information does the organizer and/or the server have that makes it possible to get back the keys needed to decrypt the vault? I realize that the recovery process also involves extra safeguards, such as a secure email, which should keep outsiders locked out even if they somehow got the Secret Key. But if some piece of recovery data really is stored on the servers, what’s stopping a malicious insider from bypassing the email step and taking over the vault? Could you point to documentation that explains this? Thank you!17Views0likes3CommentsSetting up 1P for my wife
I've been using 1P since 2016 and have been an evangelist to those still using post-it notes... However, I am having trouble getting up and going with a family plan. Can someone help me make this easy for my wife and I to start a family plan? Background: I have an individual plan that renews annually through Apple App Store. In the 1P help documentation, it tells me to upgrade to Family plan by managing my subscriptions through iTunes or the App store. However this has led me to a dead end, I do not have iTunes on my PC, and in the App Store it only gives me the option to choose between monthly or annual individual plans. What am I doing wrong? This also raises a second question - is there any advantages to using Family plan if it is just me and my wife? Would it be easier for her to just manage an individual plan by herself? Thanks everyone :)7Views0likes1CommentHow to import Bitwarden organization vault?
I'm migrating my vaults from Bitwarden, where I have a family plan. My personal vault imported fine, but when I try to import my organization vault (containing shared credentials for my family) I get this error. I browsed the help pages for 1pass but I didn't find a solution. I'm not sure what "Move them to a private vault first" means. How do I import my shared family vault?30Views0likes2CommentsCopying and Pasting Icons
I first commented on the subject of loosing the ability to copy and past icons in version 8, some four years ago. Since then I have mislaid my community login and password and so have reenrolled as a new user. I administer a family account. We have collectively, 7 x MAC desktops, 2 x Windows desktops, 7 x iPhones, 8 x iPads. The ability to create entries in 1Password with identical icons is important to all users. For those, less technically confident, the icon provides a secure and confident way to recognise entries - many within a shared vault. Individuals, when automatically offered the upgrade in their 1password app, thought, as instructed by me over many years, to keep their apps up to date for security reasons. Having upgrade their iPhones, iPads etc to version 8, the very first calls and emails to me, concerned the loss of the ability to copy and paste icons. Many thought it was a misunderstanding of the new version 8 - it wasn't. We still appear, not to have addressed this issue? As a consequence I had to uninstall everyones version 8 and reinstall versions 7. As I type this on a MAC desktop, I am the only user running version 8 on any device!! On my iPhone, I am running both versions, just so that I can utilise the 'copy and paste icon' facility. Although you have provide in version 8 a 'dropdown' below the icon (in edit mode) providing 'choose a photo' and 'choose a file' - neither of these provide a suitable resolution to version 7 'copy paste'. We use 1password in our family for everything, having spent years drumming into everyone the need to be secure and adhere to good password practices. I feel everyone is missing out on he update of version 8 JUST because of a 'copy and paste' issue. Please can you address this ASAP ? I'm sure that many have similar views even though the numbers may not reveal themselves in your community forum - Out of our family, I am the only community user, but they all have the same issue - their may well represent many other users who do not visit the community forum. I Really like the 1 password product, but holy cow is it a pain sometimes with regards to using the correct login fields. It doesn't even use the correct field when in it's own web pages! I could not get into this community forum. I tried resetting my password which by the way there is no direct clearly defined button for. When asking for my email, (not my username which I think should be the case) 1Password would not fill in an email address, only a username, which even though I have been in the forums previously, and have a username associated with the page, it offered the incorrect usernames only. Seriously? Then it took almost 45 minutes for the email to be generated. Meanwhile I'm getting very irritated. This is why most of my family won't bother to use the product, even though I'm paying for it. Half of them use a piece of paper with P/w's written on them and the others are still using google thinking they are using 1pass...... AAAAARRRGGGHH. The other issue is that 1password probably gets the username wrong half the time, or it just will not recognize the fields being requested. I've tried updating the account information, the web pages, etc, to no avail. Am I the only one with these problems??39Views0likes4Comments2nd user in Family Plan doesn't work
I'm a new user and have 1Password working well on my machine. I have invited a second person, my wife, and she accepted the invite, and I confirmed. She now shows up as active in our family plan. She can log into the 1Password app with her username and password auto filled by 1Password. But, when she logs into any of her usual sites, 1Password is a no show. No tags asking to remember user/password or to use its generated password. What have we overlooked?6Views0likes0Comments👉 Please allow permanent sort by Title in 1Password for Windows
Hello 1Password team, since a few updates on 1Password for Windows, the sort order (for example "Title") is no longer remembered when switching categories or after restarting the app. This makes it cumbersome to work with large vaults, because I always have to re-set "Sort by Title" every time I open the app or change the view. It would be very helpful to have: - either a global default sort option (e.g. always by Title), - or that 1Password simply remembers the last chosen sort order reliably. Is this planned, or could you please consider adding it? Thank you!Solved76Views2likes7CommentsToo much power in the hands of a family manager
Back in 2020/2021, a lot of us—myself included—poured time, energy, and probably a few cups of coffee into voicing concerns on the 1Password Community platform. One particularly lively thread, "Too much power in the hands of a family manager," seems to have mysteriously vanished during the migration to the new community. Poof! Problem solved. Gotta admire the efficiency 😄 Maybe those 1Password users on Reddit (https://www.reddit.com/r/1Password/comments/1m4gm7g/it_is_insane_that_you_can_lose_your_1password/) wouldn’t have wasted their time and energy if they had seen the thread. Don't get me wrong — I'm a happy 1Password user, and in my opinion, it's (still) the most polished password manager out there. It offers many great features that most others lack, like SSH key management, CLI integration, and more. I also understand that the Family account is essentially a rebranded Business account, so changing the underlying architecture is likely a complex task — and perhaps not even worth the effort if revenue from family accounts is relatively small compared to business clients. That said, I’d simply prefer honesty and transparency over silencing valid, critical voices.Solved104Views0likes11CommentsActive Apple Subscription but Account Frozen
Started using 1password on August 10th and signed up for a 1 year subscription via Apple. Today I am notified my account is frozen and I can not unfreeze it. What I have tried: Signing out of everything and logging back in. Cancelling and repurchasing subscription Deleting 1passworld app and resinstalling it So far customer support is providing no solution. Anybody have this problem and solve it.24Views0likes1Comment
