Hello MNWardrop! 👋
I'm sorry that you're seeing an issue where 1Password in the browser locks unexpectedly or gets stuck on an "Unlocking..." prompt. Our development team is aware of the issue and is currently investigating.
To workaround the issue, until a fix is released, you can choose either of the following options (not both):
- Install the 1Password desktop app and restart your browser: https://1password.com/downloads/windows
- Or, if you'd like to avoid installing the desktop app, you can turn off app integration:
- Open your browser.
- Right-click on the 1Password icon in your browser's toolbar and click Settings.
- Turn off "Integrate this extension with the 1Password desktop app".
We hope to release a fix as soon as possible.-Dave

I have been using 1Password Chrome extension without issues for 4 years but all of the sudden I have been having issues for the past 2 weeks. The extension is making me type my password every single time I click it, and I use 1Password at least 50 times per day so it is pretty annoying. Before, the extension would lock itself after a period of time if no activity was detected, but now it happens all the time. I did some research and it seems it is a Chrome issue, but I upgraded to the latest versions twice in the past 2 weeks and the issue remains there.
Chrome Version 147.0.7727.138
Does anyone know if there is a fix for this?
Thanks

1 month agoHello HRAI thanks for reaching out.
I'm sorry that you keep having to unlock the 1Password for Chrome extension so frequently.
It sounds like you might be running into a known issue our developers are currently investigating that can occur when the 1Password desktop isn't installed on Windows devices.
If you do not have the 1Password desktop app installed, can you try the following steps and see if the issue persists?
- Right-click the 1Password icon in Chrome's toolbar and choose Settings.
- Toggle off the Integrate this extension with the 1Password desktop app option.
If you do have the desktop app installed or the above suggestion doesn't help, I'd like to ask you to create and share a 1Password diagnostics report from 1Password in your browser:
How to send a 1Password diagnostics report
Attach the diagnostics to an email message addressed to support@1password.com
With your email please include:
- A link to this thread: https://www.1password.community/discussions/1password-work/1password-chrome-extension-issue/169856

You should receive an automated reply from our BitBot assistant with a Support ID number. Please post that number here. Thanks very much!
Let me know how it goes or if you have any questions.

I never installed the Windows 1Password app in my laptop and never had this issue. So I guess in a upgrade of the 1Password extension that setting was turned ON by default and started causing the issues.
It seems this solved the issue, thanks for your help!- Right-click the 1Password icon in Chrome's toolbar and choose Settings.
- Toggle off the Integrate this extension with the 1Password desktop app option.

Thank you for following up HRAI
I'm glad that turning off the app integration resolved the issue.
For some context, this setting will always be enabled by default when installing the browser extension to help streamline the process of integrating with the desktop app. That being said, the extension should work without issues if this setting is enabled and the desktop app isn't installed.
As I previously mentioned, our developers are investigating a fix, although I can't guarantee a timeline for it to be implemented.
I recommend making sure you have 1Password set to update automatically so you have access to any new fixes or features as soon as they're available. You can also check out our releases page for any updates across all of our platforms:
