1Password 8 offering to save already saved passwords
I'm using 1Password 8 on macOS 15.4.1, as well as the 1Password extension for Safari. When I log in to a website using the fill password keyboard shortcut, 1Password fills the user name and password; on clicking the login button (or when 1Password activates it), the app offers to save the password and then displays a message saying the password is already saved.
This is annoying behavior. I'd like to get this fixed but I'm not sure what settings to look at.
Hello ThomasR_5280! 👋
I'm sorry that you're seeing an unexpected prompt after filling a login. This is a known issue that can occur when you use the 1Password for Mac desktop app's Universal Autofill feature (Command-Backslash) when 1Password for Safari (the browser extension) is also installed. Our development team is currently investigating and I've added your report to the internal work item open with the team.
For the time being, until the issue is resolved, I recommend the following workaround:
- Open your browser.
- Right-click the 1Password icon in the toolbar, then choose "Settings".
- In the "Notifications" section, turn off "Allow 1Password to show unlock notifications".
Hopefully this is fixed soon.-Dave

I'm grateful to have found this "workaround" from 7 months ago, and noticed that it was "marked as solution".
Is there now, or will there be in the future, an actual solution? Or is this workaround the final answer to the problem.
Thanks.

I'm glad that the workaround helps, sorry for the inconvenience caused.
Marking a post as a solution to a thread doesn't mean that the issue itself is fixed or closed, it's a way to highlight the current state of the issue so that folks who open the thread can see it right away. The internal bug report itself remains open with our development team and it's something we hope to fix in the future.
