Ability to have different sort order for each category.

Hello.

As the title suggests I would love 1Password to save last used sort order for each of the categories separately.

As of now - whenever you change the sort order - it effects 1Password as a whole.

How do I sort different categories 90+% of the time:

  • all items: by date modified
  • favorites: by title
  • logins & secure notes: sometimes by date modified, sometimes by title
  • credit cards, identities, passwords, documents, bank account, passports, software licences, wireless routers: by title

Since mostly I update and create various entries while working I keep using "All items" (sorted by date modified) or favorites -  I get "stuck" with this type of sorting in most of the categories as well, since it just quicker to use search instead of first changing sort order and than finding the item I need.

I would love however just to keep most of my lists mentioned above to sort by title by default, while "all items" list -  by date modified.

Please consider adding 1Password ability to store the sorting order independently by each category, just as it works for example in Finder on macOS and File Explorer on Windows when it comes to views of particular folders.

Thank you!

p.s. Would also mention that "Employee" vault is an eyesore in otherwise beautiful 1Password UI.

  • Hello Ivan_K! 👋

Thanks for reaching out! You're correct that your choice of sort order will apply consistently to all categories, that's currently intended behaviour. That being said, I can certainly see how it would be useful to be able to sort different categories in different ways. I've filed a feature request on your behalf to have the team consider changing how sorting works in the future.

Can you tell me a little more about this feedback? Would you prefer a different name for the Employee vault? You can read more about the Employee vault here: Private vaults in 1Password Teams and Business are now employee vaults

Hello Dave. Thank you for submitting info to the team!

Speaking of "Employee" vault. I've read the announcement and there were several threads about this.

In short: in my use case this naming makes no sense. I am the owner and admin of the 1Password account, subscription to which I made back in 2018 (Early Adopter Special). I have quite a few shared vaults with my team and my only personal vault is called "Employee" ever since the change took place.

No matter how I look at it -  it only makes sense to let users choose whatever vault name they want, just as it is possible to do with any other vault. I believe that one day 1Password team addresses this issue, since clearly this vault naming is far from being perfect at the moment.

The good part is -  we are discussing things that really just bring a proper polish to 1Password and are not "deal-breakers".

I'm sorry for the delay in replying. Thank you for the feedback regarding the "Employee" vault, I've passed it along to the team internally.
