Archiving all items in a vault
A long time ago, I started putting items that I didn't need anymore into a vault that I called "Graveyard" because, if I remember correctly, at that time it wasn't possible to search in the Archive. ...

Items that are archived no longer show up in search results or as suggestions when filling logins into websites open in the browser or other apps. The Archive is meant as a place where you can store items that you no longer need right now but want to keep just in case you need them in the future.
If you'd prefer to use separate vaults to store different types of items then you can definitely do that as well. You can even use collections to choose which vaults you see in the 1Password app: Use collections to create custom groups of vaults

Thanks for reaching out! Each vault has it's own archive and it sounds like you have items in the "Graveyard" vault's archive. If you'd like to keep those items then you'll need to restore them from the "Graveyard" vault's Archive and then move them to another vault:
You can view a specific vault's archived items by following these steps:
- Use the 1Password for Mac app to create a collection that only contains the "Graveyard" vault: Use collections to create custom groups of vaults
- Switch to view the new collection that you created.
- Click Archive in the sidebar.

My problem is that I don't need or want more than one vault. Just my Personal vault. If I move all the items in the Graveyard vault to the Personal vault, they will be mixed up with all the other items.
The whole point of putting those old, unused or obsolete items into a different vault was to be able to keep my Personal vault clean but still keep the old stuff just in case. If I put all the items in the Graveyard vault into the Archive, there would be no point in keeping an empty vault just to be able to keep the items in the archive. I might as well keep the Graveyard vault.
I've been using 1Password for many years. My Personal vault has over 1600 items and the Graveyard vault has over 1200 items. If I put them together, I don't know how long it will take me to sort them out again.
So, for the time being, I'll just keep the two vaults. And this will be acceptable because I just realized that I could limit a search to only one vault. I don't know when this became possible but I didn't know about it till now.
I don't know if there is any advantage to using the Archive instead of a normal vault, like my Graveyard vault for obsolete items. If there is, I would be happy to learn about it.

Thanks for the reply. Do I understand correctly that you'd like to move all of the items that are in the archive of your "Graveyard" vault to the archive of your "Personal" vault before deleting the "Graveyard" vault? If that's right then you can do that by following these steps:
- Use the 1Password for Mac app to create a collection that only contains the "Graveyard" vault: Use collections to create custom groups of vaults
- Switch to view the new collection that you created.
- Click Archive in the sidebar.
- Select all of the items in the "Graveyard" archive by clicking Edit > Select All.
- Right-click on one of the selected items and click Move Items. Then choose your Personal vault.
All of the items that used to be in the archive of the "Graveyard" vault will now be in the archive of the "Personal" vault. Let me know if you run into any issues or if I misunderstood.-Dave

Yes, that is exactly what I'd like to do. I suppose that to do what you describe, all the items I want to move must be in the Graveyard Archive and not in the Graveyard vault.
But before following the steps you describe, I would like to understand why I should prefer to use the Archive instead of the Graveyard vault I've been using for years.
I've just read a few pages of the "Using 1Password" part of the site and I see that I have some new things to learn. To tell the truth, I've been updating the app regularly but I haven't been keeping up to date on the new things that have been added. I'm planning to catch up as soon as I can.
The only reason I was not happy with my two vaults was because I didn't know about the search filters. I wanted to be able to search active items (the ones in the Personal vault) separately and not see old unused items in the result. Since I can search in one vault or another using the search filters, I don't see the advantage of using the Archive instead of a dedicated vault, like my Graveyard vault. There must be a good reason but I can't see it. Can you please clarify this for me?
