Biometrics Broken On Android

Enabling Device Unlock or Unlock with Device Passcode will break biometrics on Android forcing freezes of the 1PW lockscreen and reentry of the master password over and over again only solution is to.

  1. Enable biometrics.
  2. Log in with the master password, keep the app unlocked.
  3. Pause the app in Android, long press in the launcher and press pause.
  4. Unpause the app by opening again.

Hopefully someone can help ticket #JFK-85688-817 with diagnostics included.

    I've been having this issue for months now as well. Been in contact with support and supposedly the dev team is working on it, but it's been so frustrating. Happening on 2 devices of mine. Android 14 and 16

    I should also state my Biometrics related issue is on a Pixel 9 Pro XL.

    I have an issue with those settings *disabled*. I am running a Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra, using 1Password app version 8.11.22.

    Steps to reproduce the issue:

    1. Settings→Security
    2. App unlock preset→Balanced→Update settings→X (to not create a recovery code)
    3. App unlock preset→Strict→Update settings
    4. Lock→Unlock device
    5. In 1Password, type in password to unlock
    6. Return to home screen (do not swipe closed from app switcher)
    7. Lock→Unlock device
    8. Open app
    9. Previous screen from app flashes for a half-second, then it goes to unlocking screen and asks for biometrics.
    10. Enter biometrics
    11. Stuck in unlocking screen forever (at least 20 seconds). Just returning to home screen then back to app doesn't fix anything either, it keeps being stuck showing the unlocking screen.
    12. Swipe app closed from app switcher
    13. Open app, enter biometrics, unlock normally
    14. I can repeat the steps from being on the homescreen to lock/unlock device to getting stuck on unlocking screen as often as I want. 1Password keeps getting stuck on that screen for me with this "Strict" preset.

    More concerning, I notice that when I reopen app after unlocking, before it asks for biometrics in step, it briefly flashes the previous unlocked screen. If I redo the test, but reveal a password in the app before returning to homescreen, then after I lock/unlock the device I see the password flashed on the screen for a half-second before it asks for my biometrics.
