Clarity about 1Password for Mac: Is it 1 or 7, 8 or even 9?
Is it just me? For crying out loud! All I need to understand is why the 1Password (version: 1Password for Mac 8.10.56 (81056028)) on my MacBook Pro (2019 - 16") claims it's up to date and yet my wife...

I can confirm that 1Password 8 is the modern version of 1Password, while 1Password 7 is the previous version and is no longer supported. If you have an active 1Password membership, you can update on any of your devices, as long as they meet the system requirements.
Releases follow the major.minor.patch format, as can be seen with version 8.10.56. You can make sure that you're always up to date by following the steps in our support article here: How to keep 1Password up to date
If your wife is currently on 1Password 7.9.11, I recommend that they upgrade to the latest version of 1Password 8, so that they have access to all the latest features and security updates.
