Data Lost - Where'd it go? Buggy Non-Native iOS App
I've been using 1Password for longer than I can recall. I think I might have even written about it—there are so many articles I've written and it's hard to remember them all at this point. lol
Sadly, an app I use daily has become a tragically horrible manifestation of its former self. I'm considering finding a replacement. Here's why:
- The app is a non-native iOS or macOS app written on a questionable development platform that I wish didn't exist.
- The iOS app has flaws, such as looping screens when trying to view a saved item in your database that will not open. It opens and closes repeatedly in iOS, so you cannot access your data for that one login item. I had to force quit the app to finally get into it.
- DATA LOSS—editing and updating information in one item and the total loss of the entire login entry, probably related to synchronization or something else. It's completely lost and unable to be found anywhere.
- There is no means of checking the integrity of your data.
- There is no means of creating periodic backups automatically (perhaps I could have found an older version of this entry to use for recovery).
- I don't trust search at all period. Searching inside the app is hit or miss.
- I deleted some items a few days ago and they should still be in Recently Deleted since its less than 30 days and they are not there.

I decided to try logging into the website, and lo and behold, I found the item and some others that went missing on the web app rather than a mobile or desktop app. I was totally unable to find them any other way. Why? This is unacceptable behavior for these apps. I went to ALL Vaults on the web. I'm really glad I was able to retrieve this information, but trying to find it was a pain in the B-hind.

I'm sorry that you're running into issues with 1Password on your iOS device. That certainly isn't right and our team is here to help.
