Downgrading from v8 to v7-Still possible?

I have resisted switching from V7 (which has been mostly working perfectly fine for years) to V8 (which I continue to read stories of people's unhappy experiences.)

I'm considering testing out v8, but ONLY if I can fully downgrade back to v7 if I dont like it.

I found a few threads about downgrading from v8 to v7, but they are all from a few years ago.

I'm using macOS / iOS / iPadOS.
What is the current situation (as of March 2026) for downgrading?
Are there any limitations or potential problems I should be aware of?

Thanks for the question! 1Password 7 is no longer supported and I don't recommend using it anymore. You can find instructions on how to upgrade here: Upgrade to 1Password 8

Regarding downgrading, this isn't a path that we've recently tested since 1Password 7 hasn't been supported for some time. In general, upgrading is not a one-way door. If all of your items are in your 1Password account then you should be able to reinstall 1Password 7, add your account, and use the app for as long as it continues to work. If you're currently using legacy standalone vaults, which 1Password 8 doesn't support, then reverting back to 1Password 7 is more complicated and you might run into issues trying to revert back to your previous setup.

If you do end up trying 1Password 8 then please let us know about your experience!
