How to install in new computer

I am replacing my old 2012 iMac (w/macOS Catalina v10.15.8) with a new one and need guidance on how to re-install 1Password 7 in my new computer and ensure I delete all 1Password from the old so I can recycle the device. I also have a laptop usinf 1Password that is in-sync with the old iMac. Thanks in advance.

Install the up-to-date stable version of the 1Password client ()currently 8.12.21) and any browser extensions on your new computer. Do not try to install old and unsupported software such as 1Password 7.

Before you do anything with this 1Password client, ensure that you have at least one other up-to-date 1Password client from which you can access your account and vaults. You should also have your Emergency Kit up-to-date and available.

There is plenty of good, authoritative, and up-to-date [There's an emerging theme here.] information on wiping storage on computers in order to prepare them for donation or recycling. In short, it always involves thoroughly wiping all disks, not just quickly reformatting or (re)installing a new OS. Physically destroying the disks is the most reliable method, which should be used for disposal, but can be wasteful in case of donation (though a newer disk can revitalise an old machine).
