I have a new iPhone and am unable to add 1Password to my Microsoft Authenticator.

I am able to produce the activation QR code in 1Password, but I am unable to capture the code in the Authenticator. The Authenticator gives me an error message "Invalid Activation Code" when I try ...

Hello ssrauh! 👋

I'm sorry to hear that you're having trouble adding the one-time password for your 1Password account to Microsoft Authenticator. Is it possible that you're scanning the QR code on either your Emergency Kit or the setup code on 1Password.com? If you are then these QR codes actually contain some of your account information and not the TOTP secret for enabling two-factor authentication for your account.

Can you try these specific steps to scan the QR code for two-factor authentication:

  1. Log in to your 1Password account on 1Password.com (in the browser, not the app).
  2. Click your name in the top right and choose My Profile.
  3. Click More Actions > Manage Two-Factor Authentication.
  4. Click Set Up App. You’ll see a square barcode (QR code).
  5. On your mobile device, open the Microsoft Authenticator app and use it to scan the QR code. After you scan the QR code, you’ll see a six-digit authentication code.
  6. On 1Password.com, click Next. Enter the six-digit authentication code, then click Confirm.
