I'd like to expand on why a "duplicate structure" feature would be invaluable for 1Password:
Currently, when creating multiple items that share the same structure (like employee credentials or API keys), we either have to manually recreate each field or risk leaving sensitive data behind through regular duplication. A "duplicate structure" option would preserve the field layout while starting fresh with empty values – combining the efficiency of duplication with the security of manual creation.
This would be especially beneficial for:
- IT teams managing numerous similar service accounts
- DevOps teams creating multiple API credentials with identical field structures
- HR departments setting up standardized employee access credentials
- Security teams maintaining consistent documentation formats
The feature would significantly reduce human error and improve security hygiene by ensuring sensitive data isn't accidentally carried over during item creation. It's a small change that would make a big difference in both security and productivity.
