Thanks for the question! 1Password doesn't have a "password reset" option similar to other websites but there are several ways to ensure that you can recover access to your account if you lose your Secret Key or account password. Your Secret Key and account password are two secrets, that only you know, that allow you to access and decrypt the items in your 1Password account. You should memorize your account password and I recommend that you download and save your Emergency Kit so that you have a copy of your Secret Key.
Do the following to protect yourself in case you lose your account password or Secret Key:
- Generate a recovery code: A recovery code will help you recover access to your account so that you can create a new account password and Secret Key.
- Add additional family organizers to your account: If you're using 1Password Families, you can add additional family organizers who can help you recover your account if needed.
When using either of these account recovery methods, you'll need to confirm the recovery using the email address associated with your account so make sure you don't lose access to that.
