On macOS, why do I have two 1Password apps in the background?
I see two 1Password apps in macOS, System Settings --> Login Items. They are: 1Password 1Password 7.174...... Can I remove the latter (I'm assuming it's from the previous version and probably was ...

That seems insufficient because all I can do from the Settings menu is disallow it to run upon startup, but the entry remains. I would like to fully remove it.

5 months agoThanks for the reply. It sounds like there might still be a residual copy of 1Password still installed somewhere on your Mac. Can you try the following:
- Open the Terminal app: Open or quit Terminal on Mac
- Paste the following: mdfind 1Password kind:Application
- Press Enter.
In the output that appears, do you see any other copies of 1Password aside from 1Password 8 (and perhaps 1Password for Safari) in your /Applications folder?

Good morning, Dave. It shows there's only one app: /Applications/1Password.app

I'm sorry for the delay in responding. It sounds like you only have one version of the 1Password app installed and it's not clear why you're seeing multiple items under "Allow in the Background" in macOS. If you restart your Mac then do you still see the "1Password 7.174" item?
If you do then do you see 1Password 7 in either of these folders:
- /Library/LaunchDaemons
- /Library/LaunchAgents
You can access these folders by opening the Finder app and then clicking Go > Go to Folder from the menubar and pasting in the folder location then pressing Enter.-Dave
