Recommend items with the same name in App auto-filling

Currently, if an item is not linked to its App, when auto-filling username and password for the first time, 1Password should be launched on the App login page, and the user needs to manually search for the item and allow auto-filling. However, usually, the item name is the same as the App's name. For example, when I save the password for Google, I will name the item "Google" instead of something else. So, when user launches 1Password on an App's login page, it is possible to automatically recommend items that have the same name as the App or contain the App's name, thus eliminating the step of manual search.

  • Hello BKLyoBvt! 👋

Thank you for the feedback! Every Android app has a unique identifier. If a Login item doesn't contain an identifier that matches the app you're trying to fill in, 1Password will warn you and offer to update the item with the app's identifier. New Login items saved with Autofill automatically include app identifiers.

This feature is a security precaution meant to protect you against phishing. 1Password will only suggest Login items that match an app's unique identifier to protect you against malicious apps that might try to pretend to be legitimate apps by adopting a fake name or appearance. This is similar to how 1Password acts in the desktop browser, where it will only suggest items that match the current website URL that you have open.

Let me know if you have any questions.
