Safari 1Password extension asks to be unlocked when 1Password app is already unlocked.
Here is the sequence. on macOS 26,
- Open 1Password for Mac 8.12.12 and unlock it.
- Open Safari (V26.4)
- Go to chase.com login page
The Safari 1Password extension asks me to unlock 1Password. BUT it is already unlocked in the app.
Why do I need to unlock 1Password twice?

Hello vjcinajr! 👋
I'm sorry that you're running into an issue where 1Password for Safari isn't connecting to the desktop app. Try this:
- Restart your Mac.
- Open and unlock the 1Password for Mac desktop app.
- Click on 1Password next to the in the menu bar.
- Click Settings.
- Click Browser.
- Make sure that "Connect with 1Password in the browser" is on.
Then in the browser:- Open your browser.
- Right-click on the 1Password icon in your browser's toolbar and click Settings.
- Turn off "Integrate this extension with the 1Password desktop app".
- Turn on "Integrate this extension with the 1Password desktop app".
If that still doesn't work then do you now see a green dot in the browser settings page? Or a different coloured dot and an error message? And if you click on About in the browser settings page what version of 1Password for Safari do you see listed?-Dave
