Selecting Search - Automatic Cursor Appearance

Whenever I click on the search button and the search bar opens, I have to tap into the search bar to start typing - is there any way to make the cursor automatically appear (along with the keyboard) when I've tapped the search button? 

Appreciate it's only a small extra tap, but seems counter-intuitive to have to tap into the search box, when I'm clearly wanting to search (and therefore type)...
