settings window not resizeable

The settings window is unaccountably not resizeable. This is extremely frustrating on a large display, especially with the interface zoom > 100%.

macOS 8.10.64

  • Hello Araxia! 👋

Thanks for reaching out! Settings windows are generally not resizable on macOS, for example take a look at the Settings window for apps like Apple Notes and Safari.

That being said, there is an internal discussion open to consider changes here and I've added your comments there. Thank you for the feedback!

Thanks for having this discussion. I'm going to press the point even further. Many of these other unresizeable settings windows do not have many controls, or do not require scrolling--the window automatically resizes to accommodate all of the controls in the newly selected tab/pane.

Furthermore, just because Apple does it, does not make it a good idea, either; there is no good reason not to allow resizing these windows to increase their usability, especially for people with vision impairments.

Meanwhile, the 1Password settings have significantly more options and do require scrolling. And once again, having Interface Zoom > 100% makes this artificial limitation especially awkward. Here is your Appearance pane at 100% vs 200%; remember this is unresizable (and there is no horizontal scroll). Ridiculous!
