Sharing vault with another, existing 1Password user
I have a family account that I share with my wife and two kids. I convinced my sister to buy her own account, and she has a personal account. My sister and I need to share a vault that contains information about our aging parents. I can invite my system as a guest by email, but your invitation appears to try to set up a new account for sister. She doesn't want a new or different account; she wants to keep her account and all her vaults, but we want to be able to share a between brother and sister.
How do I do this?
That is correct, they would become a guest member of the family and would have an account there in addition to their own. So in essence the would have two accounts, their own and the guest under your family. Each will have a different Secret Key but they could share the same password to allow for ease of use.

This is really annoying and confusing.
I've been using 1P for the past few years and really love it and have begun convincing family members to also create accounts. I'm now telling each of them that they have to create multiple 1P accounts for each vault I want to share (on top of their own account), which is not only unintuitive but also goes against the point of 1P, since now they have to manage multiple 1P accounts instead of having all their passwords and logins are under one—ahem—password.
Is there a plan to change this?

Once you are logged in you can view all vaults and accounts. 1Password works a lot like discord. It is not as disjointed as it may sound. You can view individual accounts or all Accounts. There is not any more work once set up. However I hated discord for its unintuitive layout so there is that. But I am not needing to log in to multiple accounts all the time, barely ever. The accounts link very nicely.
The more I think about it the more sense their approach makes. One thing you can do very easily is drag items from one vault in one account to another vault in another account, or copy. Although copying does lead to the issue of what one updates if you change a password. - 1P_Timothy

Hi martim, thanks for joining the conversation and sharing your feedback on this.
I get your frustration here. For some context each families account has it's own set of "keys", so giving someone outside that account access to vaults within isn't as simple as it would seem on the surface. Currently adding guests to your account is usually the easiest way to share those "keys". That said, our team is exploring different ways to facilitate use cases like yours, such as what one of our product managers mentioned in a recent AMA on Reddit. I'll note that I don't have any specifics to share regarding if or when this feature will be implemented.

I definitely get that adding multiple accounts can feel unintuitive, or even be intimidating. I've personally experienced similar uphill battles with tech-averse family members.
If you find there are a lot of vaults and items you need to share with a family member, one option to consider would be adding them to your families account instead of creating multiple guest accounts. 1Password Families includes 5 accounts and 5 guests by default but you can add more members for an additional fee. Another approach to reduce how many vaults you're sharing with guests would be to move anything you want to share with a family member into one vault, then use tags to help keep things organized rather than different vaults.

We typically recommend using the same account password for all 1Password accounts, whether they're full accounts or guest accounts. This means you can still access everything with one password (or fingerprint, FaceID, device unlock, and so on!). Once setup and signed in you can quickly switch between accounts or view everything in All Accounts (example below).
We have a guide with an overview on using multiple accounts, as well as steps to add additional accounts on each platform.
If there's anything we can help with here, just let us know. I've also gone ahead and shared your interest in additional vault sharing options with the team. Thanks again!

OMG, which is more annoying - the fact that I have another typo in my original post, or that there's no way to edit a post?
Final sentence should say:
She doesn't want a new or different account; she wants to keep her account and all her vaults, but we want to be able to share a vault between brother and sister.

4th sentence should read:
I can invite my sister as a guest by email, but your invitation appears to try to set up a new account for sister.

So let me make sure I have this right.
If you invite a user to your 1Password Family as a family member or a guest they will have to create a new 1Password account.
If they already have a 1Password account they can use the same email address. If they do they will have two 1password accounts with the same email address. They will have different Secret Keys.
If you want to be a member of multiple 1Password families you need a separate 1Password account for each 1Password family you belong to. If you are paying for a 1Password family and you want to join someone else's family and stop paying for the 1Password Family you are paying for then you need to do the following:
1. Get invited to a 1Password Family as a Family member not a guest
2. Accept the invite creating another 1Password account.
3. Log into the 1Password Application with both accounts.
4. Move your personal private passwords to the new account.
5. Cancel your subscription and delete your previous account.
If you want to share passwords with two separate groups (ie your roommates and your parents) you would need to get a 1Password Family Account for your roommates. Then invite your roommates to join it. Your roommates would need to create 1Password accounts to join your Roommate Family. Then you'd need to create another 1Password Family account for your parents to join. Invite them to it and your parents would each need to create a 1Password account to join that family with.
Is that right?
