"Start here" prompts - long time user and cannot see a way to make them go away
We've been using 1Password since version 3. Latest update is showing "Start here" prompts in both the app and browser extensions.
I can make Step 1 (tutorial) go away by clicking on it and then closing the resulting web page, but step 2 (import) I cannot seem to get around.
As long time users we have no passwords to import, but it's saying at least five passwords need to be imported to complete the task.
I know some might say just ignore it, but sadly I'm not built like that. It's a very prominent prompt and I need it to vanish.
Maybe I've missed something obvious - hoping someone knows how to fix this. Thanks for reading.
App:
Safari browser extension:
1Password Version: 8.10.52
Extension Version: 8.10.52.25
OS Version: macOS 15.1.1

1P_Dave I have same issue. Even after it's dismissed and wasn't showing the red badge, it displayed popup with "unfinished business".
I have been a 1P user since 2009. I don't need your "training".
However, when I saw this new feature, I was certain that it would classify me as a new user and feed me with those prompts until I actually executed them.
Why I thought so?
Because 1Password has a history of being oblivious to the user experience side of problems. So much so that when a UX issue led to a serious data breach, it was dismissed as if users were expected to work around it.

Not at all, glad you figured a way through it. Your case just adds weight to my suggestion that it would be helpful if there was a way to just say "done" if you're certain that all's well.

Resolved. I rebooted, deleted '1Password for Safari', opened 1Password, choose menu 'help > troubleshooting > fix missing extension'. In Safari, enabled extension, clicked 1P menubar icon, then 'next steps'.
now only the tutorial step was showing. clicked thru the tutorial, done.

Apologies for thread-jacking, but I have a very similar issue.
Long time user, family account. Click 1P extension icon in titlebar of browser window, popup's "start here" says I have 2 steps left. 'Add the browser extension' is the 1st step. Can't get rid of it.
But I've already added the browser extension, yes? Clicking 'Next' or radio button does nothing.
Restarting Safari didn't help, I think I have the latest versions of 1P and 1P4Safari.
Same thing happens in Chrome
macOS 14.7.1, Safari 18.1.1, 1Password for Mac 8.10.52 (81052025), Chrome 131.0.6778.86, 1Password browser extension version 8.10.52.25 (in both browsers)

PS: Just a random thought: Given the onboarding is counting entries in the Private vault, perhaps the checks could take account of any other existing vaults the user can edit too (over 800 items in my main vault)?

Side note: even when done (and that bit syncs) having to click "finished" in every browser extension takes a chunk of time too (same for dismissing the notifications). I have Chrome, Firefox and Safari for various purposes across multiple devices. Chrome in particular has a profile for each Google account we have to make access easier and more controlled. Easily into double figures for just me to get through all the browser extensions. I know this isn't typical, but I'm sure it's not uncommon, especially with anyone from an IT background who has deals with web development from time to time.

Hi Dave,
It's a Family account. The screenshots are from my wife's computer. My computer was showing the same messages, but already had the import box checked, so it was just a question of faking the tutorial etc, then clicking the finished button.
Essentially nothing in our Private vaults because we've always had access to a shared vault and we started before Families with iCloud sync etc. So I've avoided the Private vaults as they can't be shared as a whole vault (to my knowledge). I hope that makes sense. It's just the way we work.
I actually do have 6 "archived" items in my Private vault. There were only three in Sue's. So I created five random logins with usernames and passwords (it seemed to need that), then I was able to clear the message after restarting the app. Then deleted the made up login items/passwords and deleted them from deleted.
Seems like a lot of effort and hoops to jump through. Could there not just be an option to say, this doesn't apply to me, end onboarding task?
Anyhow, resolved.
Many thanks for the prompt that led me in the right direction.
All the best,
Jamie.

Hello Jamsk! 👋
Thank you for reaching out. The "Import your passwords into 1Password" message is part of an onboarding flow to help new users get started in using 1Password, if you already have items saved in 1Password and you still see the onboarding message then it sounds like something is going wrong. So that I can better understand the situation:
- Do you see the same message on any other devices?
 - Do you items saved in your Private/Employee vault (not other vaults that you may have created)? If you do then how many items are saved there?
 - Are you using an individual, family, teams, or business account?
