Super slow performance

Hello everyone,

I am using 1Password for Mac 8.9.8 (80908009) on macOS 12.6.1 (CPU Apple M1 Pro, 32GB RAM) and since this last update the stand alone application has become super slow and unresponsive. It takes up to a few seconds for it to react on a simple click to view an account. This leads form time to time to unwanted "updates" of items saved in the application.

My computer runs otherwise extremely well and no other application causes issues or has such a slow performance.

Does anyone have an idea what happened as compared to the previous versions, which ran smoothly?

Thanks in advance,
Georg

I'm happy that 1Password is working better now on your Mac. If you do see the issue return, and Tommy's steps don't resolve the issue, then please let us know. We're here to help. πŸ™‚

1P_Tommy Thanks for your suggestion. In the meantime there was an update which I am using now and which behaves quite a bit better. Should the performance start to degrade again, I will use your steps to try and resolve the problem. Thank you.

Can you try a reinstall? I've had a couple of uses (email) indicate this helped their performance. If you're keen to do that here are the steps.

    • Make sure all of your data is available on https://my.1password.com and ensure you have a copy of your πŸš’ Emergency Kit along with your password.

    • Your data is maintained outside of the app and will be completely safe. * Please be mindful to follow the steps below, especially the part about NOT using an app cleaner. They have been known to remove user's data, and we DO NOT want that to happen.

    1. Quit all open web browsers, especially Safari.
    2. Look for our helper in the menu bar near the WiFi indicator and the clock. Right-click on the helper and select quit.
      • If 1Password 8 is not open then please continue on.
    3. Drag 1Password from the Applications folder to the Trash. Do not use an "app cleaner" or "uninstaller" tool to remove the app or additional files. If prompted, enter the password you use to sign in to your Mac.
    4. Restart the Mac.
    5. Download 1Password 8
    6. Quit any open web browsers and then install 1Password.
    7. Open and unlock 1Password before opening your web browser.

Thanks for your replies. I was wondering whether I was alone in that experience. I hope that the next update will provide some betterment.

v8 has become almost unusable slow on my Mac mini (Intel) processor. Lamenting I uninstalled v7 ☹️. Is there any outlook on a general resolution to this. I understand we are all requested to submit individual logs but seems pretty wide-spread.

I have the exact same behavior. It is so slow unlocking that I just changed the Auto-lock time to be 4 hours vs 10 minutes like it was previously set to. This effectively makes me less secure.

v8 in general seems pretty buggy. I have multiple vaults and it's not uncommon (at least once a week) that one locks on me while the other stays unlocked. When this first happened I panicked because I thought I had lost passwords. Hopefully they are aware of and working on these issues. At this point I would not consider v8 to be an upgrade.
