Unable to set up USB key in Safari due to 1Password
When I try to add a USB security key to either Google Workspace/GSuite or to 1Password itself, I'm unable to do so because 1Password's dialog box keeps popping in and insisting on creating a Passkey, which is not what I want to do. There doesn't seem to be any way to dismiss the dialog without breaking the key addition sequence.
1Password Version: 1Password for Mac 8.10.50 (81050025)
Extension Version: 81050025, on STABLE channel
OS Version: macOS 15.1 (24B83)
Browser: Safari Version 18.1 (20619.2.8.11.10)

Ah. I thought I'd done that, but, clearly not. Seems to work fine. Thanks for the quick response!

Hello NomadUK! 👋
Thanks for reaching out. Because both security keys and passkeys use the same underlying webauthn technology, you may see 1Password offering to save a security key as a passkey. If you'd like to use your hardware security key instead then you can dismiss the prompt by pressing
escon your keyboard or by clicking on the security key icon in the prompt:You'll then be able to use your hardware security key. I hope that helps. 🙂
