Unnecessary "Save Login" panel
I often get an alert saying "To save a login, unlock 1Password first." - right after I use 1PW to fill in login credentials. This makes no sense - first, I just unlocked 1PW to get it to fill in the...

Thank you for confirming that and for posting the screenshot of the prompt. This is a known issue that can occur when you use the 1Password for Mac desktop app's Universal Autofill feature (Command-Backslash) when 1Password for Safari (the browser extension) is also installed. Our development team is currently investigating and I've added your report to the internal work item open with the team.
For the time being, until the issue is resolved, I recommend the following workaround:
- Open your browser.
- Right-click the 1Password icon in the toolbar, then choose "Settings".
- In the "Notifications" section, turn off "Allow 1Password to show unlock notifications".
I'm sorry for the disruption, hopefully this is fixed soon.-Dave

6 months agoHello dmitch77! 👋
I'm sorry that you're seeing an unexpected prompt when using 1Password. It sounds like you're unlocking and using the desktop app's Universal Autofill feature to fill your login information (using Command-Backslash) and then 1Password for Safari (the browser extension) is asking you to unlock it so that it can check to see if you already have a saved login.
What should happen in this case is that 1Password for Safari (the browser extension) should unlock at the same time as when you unlock the desktop app to fill your login using Universal Autofill and then be aware that you've filled an existing login. As a first step, I'd like you to make sure that the communication between the desktop app and the browser extension is working before we investigate further:
- Open and unlock the 1Password for Mac desktop app.
- Click on 1Password next to the  in the menu bar.
- Click Settings.
- Click Browser.
- Make sure that "Connect with 1Password in the browser" is on.
Then in the browser:
- Open your browser.
- Right-click on the 1Password icon in your browser's toolbar and click Settings.
- Make sure that "Integrate this extension with the 1Password desktop app" is on.
Then try to reproduce the issue again. If you still see the issue then do you see a green dot in the browser settings page? Or a different coloured dot and an error message?

1P_DaveI think you replied to someone else's response, thinking it was mine. In any case, I ensured that "Connect with 1Password in the browser" is on, and "Integrate this extension with the 1Password desktop app" is on. They already were on, so they were on when the error happened.
You ask about "green dot in the browser settings page". Do you mean 1PW's Browser settings, or Safari's settings? I don't see any green dot anywhere; could you be more specific? Thanks.

My comment was in reply to your post. I wanted to make sure that the integration between the desktop app and the browser extension was working on your Mac and it sounds like it is. You can find the green circle on the General tab in 1Password for Safari's settings:
You can access this page using these steps:
- Open Safari.
- Right-click on the 1Password icon in your browser's toolbar and click Settings.
If you see a green dot there then can you tell me what you see when you click on the "Unlock 1Password" button in the prompt that appears after you fill a login using Command-Backslash? Do you see another prompt appear that says "Login already saved"?-Dave

There is a green dot there.
Sometimes after I fill a login via cmd-\, I get the prompt with the "Unlock 1Password" button as shown in the screen shot in my original post.
Sometimes after I fill a login via cmd-\, I get a "Login already saved" alert as shown in the attached screen shot. In this case I do not first get an "Unlock Password" alert. It's one or the other. I can't determine which circumstances cause which alert. As far as I can tell they are both bogus. :-)

Here's that "Already saved" alert.
