While I can't help you with your Mac-related problems, your description of the original problem sounds like an autofill problem which might have been easily fixed, but like any good technical type you have created a bigger problem while trying to fix it. I've been there so many times, I have a reserved seat.
Before touching anything else on the affected system, make sure you have working access using another 1Password client and be ready to take notes suitable for a Support request if needed.
On the affected system, I suggest you follow whatever process best gets you to a platform with no 1Password on it, then get the latest Mac client from the source. That's release 8.12.6 as of 10 Mar 2026 and 8.12.8-23 Beta as of 11 Mar 2026. Install and configure it to work how you want.
Do the same for your browsers' extensions.
While not 100% guaranteed, this will likely be the least effort to get you to an up-to-date and fully working setup. If it doesn't, then you will have what you need for a near perfect Support request.
