Upgrading to version 8 from 7
I purchased 1Password for personal use years ago on my Mac and phone, and it works great. I'm now prompted every time I log in to access data, to upgrade to the new version. I begin that process and then question whether or not I'm going to be forced to pay for a new version when the one I have works great. I'm able to just dismiss the alert and keep using the app but wonder if this will top working at some point. As I begin the upgrade process, I'm prompted to talk to sales or check pricing, neither of which I want to do. Is this a free upgrade to allow me to continue using the program I have for years? Thanks very much.

Hi zryall,
Thanks for using 1Password. We wouldn’t be here without customers like you, and we appreciate all your support.
I'm glad 1Password 7 is working so well for you! However, as a security company, we want you to keep software and hardware up to date. Older versions of operating systems, hardware, or security software will become incompatible over time with vulnerabilities that didn't exist when they were current. Although your current license will never expire, we'll always recommend upgrading to the latest version of 1Password.
Upgrading to 1Password 8 does require a membership, which includes a monthly/annual subscription. This includes all of our 1Password apps and all future upgrades for all of your devices. As part of the migration process, you also get one year of membership for free, so if you don't like it, you can go back to 1Password 7 and it won't have cost you anything.
I hope this helps and let me know if you have any questions!
