Watchtower idea

So I go into Watchtower, and it's always pretty overwhelming—68 vulnerable passwords, 78 weak ones, etc.

Trying to get this in better shape is daunting. So I do what most people do: close Watchtower and try not to think about it.

But what if we could chip away at it in a way that didn't feel so overwhelming? What if every day, 1Password gave me one website from Watchtower to change my password on? It could priorities sites that are both vulnerable and have passkeys available, so it's only a couple clicks and users start seeing progress. Then it goes to vulnerable, and down the line of whatever is most important.

In just a few weeks you'd start seeing your score improve which is relieving and motivating.

Hi Brides, thanks for joining the community!

I think what you described here is a really interesting idea to help people work through any items that Watchtower flagged for attention. I might contend that spending the time to work through all of the most vulnerable passwords as soon as possible is worth the time, but I totally get how the "daunting" factor can make that feel impossible. I'm also a sucker for gamification in apps, so the concept of a daily 1Password goal sounds pretty fun!

I can't say if this is something we will implement, but I've gone ahead and shared your suggestion with the team. Thanks again!

This is a great suggestion for how to eat that elephant.

Instead of trying to keep a schedule, how about Watchtower offers one item to resolve which would score the most points, with a click to open the appropriate page? That way there would always be one "easy" way to improve the score.

At minimum, the user should be able to disable the feature - especially if turned on by default, and the suggestions should stop when there are no unignored items remaining.

Yeah, I like that, float the single most critical action to deal with, and when you're done, you're done for the day. The next there there's a new one, and you can ignore/dismiss it if you'd like.
